Sharing Music On Your Pogoplug With iTunes Using Firefly & OpenPogo (Page 1 of 2)
Categories: PogoPlug Development
*** UPDATE: Note that OpenPogo has been updated to PlugApps, and there are numerous compatibility issues with the upgraded V2 Pogoplug. These instructions apply to V1 Pogoplugs only, at the state OpenPogo was in when the article was written. For more information on the current state of PlugApps for both versions of Pogoplug, click here and here. ***
You most likely already know about the web-based music player built into the My.Pogoplug service, but with OpenPogo and the Firefly Music Server, you can share your library, easily, right in iTunes. In this article, you'll find the steps you need to take to get it installed, set up, and updated on your Pogoplug. [If you haven't yet installed OpenPogo yet, click here for more information on getting started - OpenPogo MUST be installed for this tutorial to work.]
Note: Remember that installation of third party apps is not covered by the Pogoplug warranty, so proceed with caution.
Step 1: SSH In and Install Firefly

Once you're all set with that, type ipkg install nano mt-daapd-svn and execute with ENTER. This will install the program - see above photo for what a successful installation should look like.
Step 2

You'll need to run these two commands separately:
mount -o rw,remount /
and then
mkdir -p /var/run
Note that you won't get any confirmation after you complete each of these steps - this is normal.
