Accessing Your BlackBerry's Media Card from Pogoplug

This may not come up very often... but did you know you can access your BlackBerry's media card directly from your Pogoplug?

You may be asking: why would I ever want to do this?

Why Access Your BlackBerry From Pogoplug:

1.  You take some pics from your phone and want to share them easily with your friends.

2.  You want to share any of your other files you may have on your card, such as documents and videos.  You may be using voice notes and want to back them up or add, share or remove ringtones.

3.  You can even use an automated program to backup your BlackBerry anytime it is hooked up on the Pogoplug.

I've gotten into the habit of plugging my BlackBerry into the Pogoplug (I use a USB hub) when at home, so anything I need I can access quickly and all while the phone is charging.

By doing this, I'm easily able to access any file on my phone easily while I am at home.

Setting Up Your BlackBerry for Use with Pogoplug

In order to do this you need first to have a media card or Micro SD card installed in your BlackBerry.

Then, have your BlackBerry set up to enable media card support  You will find these settings in your Options > Media Card settings, as seen in the photo below.

Once you're set up properly, the first time your connect to your Pogoplug the device will create some files and folders on the media card itself.

The file name is  .ceid and a there will be a folder created named .cedata. These are files that the Pogoplug uses to sync with. Pogoplug creates these files on any hard drive that you plug into it.  In my case, these files take up
about 22MB of space on my storage card.  Not that much space if you use a 4 GB card, just make sure that you have room left on the card for the Pogoplug to install these necessary files.

Since this will work with any media card you plug into your BlackBerry, you could also use it as a simple card reader for your digital camera or other devices as well!

I don't get it, so you move a .ceid to your media card? How will it know to connect to my device? Any help is welcomed!

No need to move any files. PogoPlug will create the needed files directly on the SD card. It will find your device fine long as you enable media card support.

Ah, this is the step that I don't understand (perhaps there is another way to word it?)

"Once you're set up properly, the first time your connect to your Pogoplug the device will create some files and folders on the media card itself."

How does one connect a blackberry to the pogoplug? I looked for something equivalent to "m.pogoplug.com"

Maybe we are talking two different things. When I say "Connect to your Pogoplug" I mean actually plugging the BBerry into the Pogo's USB port.

If you want to access your Pogoplug files stored on your Pogo. Download the program here http://www.pogoplug.com/downloads/ and read the Beta Notes on how to install, etc.

Ah I originally thought it was via wirelessly vs by plugging it in.

Also, the blackberry app doesn't seem to work.
